A Guide to Scent Layering
Layering fragrances isn’t just about mixing two scents you like; it’s about understanding how they interact. In perfumery, notes are often categorized by their weight and volatility.
- Base Notes: These are the rich, deep, foundational scents that last the longest. Think of woods, vanillas, and musks. They provide the character and longevity to a fragrance blend.
- Top Notes: These are the bright, fresh, and volatile scents you smell first. They are often citrus, fresh, or fruity notes. They create the initial impression but fade more quickly, revealing the base notes underneath.
Expert Tip for Warm & Humid Climates
In hot weather like that found in Dhaka, fragrances can “bloom” and become much more intense. We recommend choosing a Fresh or Citrus top note to keep your car feeling light and airy. Use richer base notes like Vanilla or Leather more sparingly, as their strength will be amplified by the heat.
